I wish I was at the beach!!

It's been soooo hot!!
Guess it's that time of year, but I always forget!
I don't know about any of you out there in blogland, but
my brain just doesn't function that well once it gets
over 100!! Well, that's the excuse for this week!

I hope everyone is doing well this week...
stay cool!!

A bit distracted !

I really should have been doing other
things when I started this little painting!
The little 8x10 canvas just sat for months...
blank and sad!
As for myself, I've been on a Cinderella kick.
Can't say why...these things just happen !

So, instead of doing what I was supposed to
do, I started this!
It isn't perfect...buildings are hard for me, but
I had fun.
And you know what? In the end of the day,
life went on. ..
and I had fun painting my castle !

Finished !!

Here is is...just finished it last night!!
Sorry, it's a bit fuzzy.
I was hopping around with happiness...
This piece was soooo much fun.
It's probably a really good thing my dogs
can't talk. They'd have a blast telling
everyone how their Mom talks to herself
while she works on projects, then dances
around when they're done !!
Oh well !

I hope you all you Cinderella fans enjoy
my little painting as much as I
enjoyed sharing it !!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!

You know the saying about the apple not
falling far from the tree ?
Well " my tree " sent me this watercolor...
This was done by my Mom, Marilyn.
So now you all know where I get my
artsy ways!!!
I was so proud and happy that she
was inspired my my Mermaids to design
her own version.
She mentioned in her note that the eyes
were round because fish have round eyes!
The coral wreath in ther hair is
really awsome!!! Bravo!!!
I'm posting this for 2 reasons...
I'm so proud of her talent, and because
I want her to do more!!

Have a wonderful day!!
And....thanks Mom, for everything!!

A box for a Princess

Been in the mood to dabble... could be
the crazy heat !
Anyway, as I played with colors, pulled
out some of my boxes of "treasures"
this box started to take shape.
Well, it didn't take shape right away...
there's a few other designs under that
crown!!
I'm pleased with how it turned out...
And one never knows, there could be
a Princess out there in Blogland
wishing she had a box to put
her Princess stuff in !
I could be on to something !

Jen

Look inside !!

My Butterfly Box

This was really fun...I just started mixing
greens and blues to get the color.
Then I found some really old bits
and pieces of paper...the rim is covered with
teal velvet ribbon...inside the lid I quoted
Aristotle~
In all things of nature there is
something marvelous.

A little family trip

Last week my husband and I met my brother and his family for a little vacation at Mammoth Lakes.
We hiked, the guys fished and we did alot of sightseeing...the weather was perfect!!
We spent Summers at Mammoth when we were kids, so going back was pretty special.
Here are a few of the highlights...
I hope you enjoy!!!

The best burgers ever !!

Along our way we went through the
town of Walker...on highway 395.
This burger place called our names!!
It didn't dissapoint...I'd say the burger was the
best I've ever had.
They had a charming eating area with
handcrafted birdhouses, fountain and
beauitiful flower gardens.
What a find!!
I'm getting a malt next time!!

Here we are !!

Here I am with my brother Greg...
As kids our family would come here every Summer.
I can remember riding my bike to the lodge to buy candy !
We'd stay in one of the cabins, and pretty much fish every
day.
Not much has changed...I was happy to see that!!

Twin lakes...so beauitiful !!

The Little Chapel in the Woods

This is a little church that's nestled in the woods.
There had been a wedding there a few days
before...you could still see some of the flowers.
It's such a romantic place!!!

A real ghost town!!

One day we took a drive to Bodie...
In its heyday in the 1800's Bodie had a
population of 10,000!
This was a gold mining town...only about 5%
of its buildings remain.
People were still living here in the 30's !
The remaining buildings still hold some of
the owners belongings...baby cribs, sewing
machines,school books,etc.
We spent most of the day here...

Virginia City , Nevada

On the way home we stopped in Virginia City.
I loved going here when I was a little !
It really hasn't changed much...and we had a
blast!
Thanks to the kid with the skateboard for
taking our picture...

This is the Silver Queen!!
She resides on the wall of a Salon called the Silver slipper... her dress is made of silver dollars.
I remember seeing her when I was a little girl.
After all these years the Queen is just as beauitiful!!

What a name!! The Bucket of Blood is really famous...or in-famous?!
We heard a wonderful band playing, and just had to go in and see what was going on!!

Dancing on a Sunday afternoon

This was soooo cool!
Most of the town dresses up on the weekends...
The country band was fantastic!
We had a blast watching everyone.

See ya later!!
