Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas !!!
It's been a really crazy busy time...all good!
I promise to be a bit more on top of my blogging next year!
With puppies, a husband and all that goes with life it's hard to make the time...at least for me it is.

I'd like to wish everyone a very wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
13 has always been my lucky number  so I have big hopes for 2013!!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

A laugh and a prayer

My idea of being Sonny and Cher didn't go over very well...so we went to a Halloween party last weekend as bugs! Yes...a couple of flies in their 50's!
Go figure...

With all the awful storm news I thought you all might like a laugh.
On the serious side...my prayers go out to all those affected by this storm. I have many customers that are right in the middle of the storm activity, and I'm really hoping they are ok!
Mother Nature is so very powerful.... not to be taken  for granted.

Glory, glory hallelujah !

With all  the election stuff going on I got inspired to create some Americana pieces for my Etsy shop...this is the kind of designs I did many years ago.
It was fun...

The best birthday card ever!

I celebrated my birthday on the 24th...and extended it a bit!

One of my favorite treasures was this card my sister-in -law made me...I love this so much!
I remember the cake like it was yesterday !  Doll cakes were new at the time, so this was really special!  This particular birthday was one of my favorites...I'll treasure this card forever...

Another one !

Still in "Mermaid mode"...maybe it's because Summer is almost over ?  These little stitched bits are fun to work on in between bigger projects . My old sketchbook is great inspiration!

Thursday, September 6, 2012

I was looking through my sketchbook last week and found some of my old mermaid designs.
These were  meant to be dolls, but since I've been a "stitchey" kind of mood a small wall hanging seemed like a fun idea ! I drew her freehand then colored, stitched and beaded.
These kind of projects are so fun...there is never a real plan. I just let my mind wander.

Love her tail... the beads are supposed to be little bubbles.

And away we go !!

A really dear friend of ours turned 70 last weekend...this was a party we didn't want to miss! So off we went down to San Diego energy drinks in hand ! It was held at the La Fayette Hotel ... it's been recently renovated an I must say it was breathtaking. This little room was for  afternoon tea and evening cocktails...don't you love the parasols on the ceiling? Cute!

A great time was had by all at the party !!!
On the way home Disneyland was calling our name...and we answered!
Cars Land was awesome ...crowded, but worth it.

Enjoy the pictures...
Here's the lobby. Love the old photos to the left.

Radiator Springs!

We were really impressed. Just like Walt Disney said, the park will never be done.  This new addition is going to be so popular. They managed to make you feel like you're part of the movie.
Loved this flower bed!!! The centers are tail lights!

The Cozy Cone Motel!

I  loved the Cozy Cone motel in the movie. They did a great job re-creating it for the park...it looked great at night! Oh and by the way, even the drinks are served in traffic cones! Really cute!

Have a great week!

Made another one !

I had always planned on making a quilt with these fabrics , but you know how that goes. These aprons are really fun and pretty quick to putt together!
This is my French inspired one...

Boy, Summer is flying by!! We just got back from a little get away to Lake Tahoe...nice to escape the heat !!
Since it's just to stinking hot to go out I've been doing some stitching. Catching up on all my shows and lounging around with projects isn't so bad...

Hope everyone is enjoying the dog days of Summer !!

I had planned to make a Summer quilt with these fabrics but never got around to it. I'm kind of glad because it was so fun creating this craft apron... reminds me of Hawaiian punch !
Here's my attempt at modeling ! What you don't see in the picture is Oliver rolling around at my feet. He thought it was so funny that Mommy was taking a picture of herself !

Aloha!

Here's the front...I did tons of French Knots for the lei.

Someone was naughty !

It's a little too hot for Oliver to play outside, so he's decided to work on a craft project ! Just happened to be our comforter...I guess it's a good excuse to go shopping!

Hello!

I hope everyone is enjoying Summer !!
We've been pretty busy...and having fun. My brother and his family came up for a visit. LOVED it!  Lots of hanging out by the pool and relaxing.
We took them to the California State Fair as well as a trip to San Francisco ...I posted a few of the highlights below.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone by !  I'm already seeing Fall decorations in the stores. Personally I think that's wrong. Puts me into a panic!

Well, I'm in the mood to finish up a few on projects that have started to gather dust! LOL!!
Take care!

We always discover something new !

Muse Magnifique is a fabulous arcade on the Warf filled with vintage games. This was so much fun!!  It's a private collection available to the public.

Only in San Francisco!

We wanted to check out  Loved to Death...it was featured on the show Oddities. Very interesting place , not exactly a where I'd go shopping. Still pretty interesting  though. If you're in the market for a stuffed two headed bird this is your place !

Part 2 of my grand adventure !

Here's a few more pictures of the trip...the more I go through the pictures the more I want to go back! This is the Mission: Space ride in Epcot. This ride isn't for whimps, or for someone that just ate. Never in all my Disney years have I gone on a ride with air sick bags on hand! Even my big 6'5" husband was weak in the knees after this one!
Hope you enjoy the pictures...and happy Fathers day to all the Dads ( and fur dads) out there!

Epcot

One day we ate at La Cellier in Canada. This is a really hard place to get into. Some people have made reservations up to 3 years in advance! We really lucked out and were able to get in on short notice...part of the advantage of being a party of 2.
The food was excellent! Our favorite was the Cheddar Cheese Soup!!!!! Looks like we're in a food coma in this picture!
One day we went to The Disney Speedway...I did a ride along in a brand spanking new Lamborghini ! The really weird part of this is I'm forever telling my husband to slow down! My young driver from Georgia  got this car up to 120 and I asked if it could go faster?!  I was so shocked that I loved this so much...when we accelerated my checks went to the back of my head. Seriously.
The only thing I didn't like were those ugly shoes they made me wear...ick!
Walt Disney never wanted Disneyland to be finished, and the same goes for Walt Disney World. A huge re-do of Fantasyland is underway. I can't wait to see this when it's done! The castle in the top left hand side is going to be the Beauty and the Beast area!!! LOVE this!

The back lot tour in Hollywood Studios

Part of the back lot tour included the chance to wander around a real prop department. It was so amazing...everything was carefully marked. This was a pickers dream!

The costume department

This is from the back lot tour in Hollywood Studios. I wanted to jump off the tram and rummage around !!
There were bolts and bolts of beautiful fabrics, trims and boxes and boxes of jewels!!! This is where they design and make costumes.

I'm back !

Here I am...back in the real world! My husband and I had an early 30th anniversary trip...to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!  I've wanted to go there for as long as I could remember! It was beyond anything I could of imagined.
The words of the trip became "wow" and "Oh my gosh". We were like a couple of parrots!
Growing up in Southern California the Disneyland has always been a big part of my life, still is.
Walt Disney World is a totally different experience. I feel so lucky we were able to celebrate our anniversary there...it was perfect!!!!

My grand adventure...part 1

                                                       Here we go!!!!
Our hotel...The Dolphin ! Great location and one of the ferry stops was just steps away!

The Magic Kingdom

Hollywood Studios!

So much to do ! The Aerosmith roller coaster was fantastic!!!!
After the back lot tour we got to wander through the costume museum...loved the Queen of Hearts!
Lunch at the Brown Derby...I had the famous Cobb Salad. It didn't dissapoint!

Nobody does landscaping like Disney!

Epcot!

Epcot was everything I had hoped for...when we walked up to the gigantic ball I got chills!
