Green? Always have been...

I don't know about you but I'm tired of celebrities going on every talk show they can lecturing us on being "green".
We artsy types have always been green!  I'd rather get a root canal than throw away a great bit of lace...vintage bauble...or even a wayward faux pearl!
My goodness!!! This is the stuff dreams are made of...

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with an idea and stumble into the  my crafty palace and start digging through the  little baskets and bowls of the tiny bits and pieces from past projects...I'm talking VERY tiny bits and pieces. Nothing goes to waste!!

Well, guess it's time to get off my bedazzled soapbox and share my newest needle keeper.
It's made from a super sweet scrap of silk crazy quilt I embellished like a crazy woman! I keep trying to go the simpler is better route but just can't do it...don't think I ever will !! Hey, I'm a girl!

My little weekend getaway

My husband and I took off for Tahoe last weekend for a much needed getaway...we had so much fun. It's such a beautiful place! Since we were only going there for a couple of nights we stayed at the Montbleu, it used to be Caesers Palace.
It was nice, but I kinda miss the old Roman decor of Caesers.
We did some new things and revisited some of out old favorites... funny how just a couple days out of town can make such a difference!
I can't wait to go back!

In case your wondering where the puppy Oliver went, he had a nice little stay at a doggy resort! It must of gone well for him. He was sent home with a very nice report card...and he made a new friend named Lilly!

have a wonderful week!

Ahh...

The Beacon

This is such a great place...great food and a million dollar view!

An after dinner stroll

The beach outside the Beacon is one of my favorites...in another few weeks it will be crawling with boats and people!

David Walley's Hot Springs and Spa

We've always wanted to try this place out and it didn't let us down. We went here one afternoon for massages and to relax in the hot springs. Sitting in that heavenly water and looking up at the snow dusted Sierras was magic.

The oldest bar in Nevada

After we left the hot springs we decided to take a little drive through the town of Genoa. It's very tiny but full of history and adorable houses and shops! This is the Genoa Bar...the oldest in Nevada. Everyone from Mark Twain to Johnny Cash have knocked down a few drinks here...we loved it! The people were really welcoming and the inside was amazing.Too much to mention, but my favorites were the diamond dust mirror that was shipped from Scotland then brought by covered wagon in the 1840's and Raquel Welch's black leopard print bra! It was hanging on deer antlers...ya don't see this kind of thing every day!

Here's my husband inside the beautiful Edgewood Country Club. We had a little snack here and the most wonderful beignets ever!

Time to go home...
